Agility/Obedience Classes

We also offer:

AGILITY -  Marilyn Adams

Agility classes are held weekly in Taunton, Saturday mornings during the Winter months and Tuesday evenings during the Summer months. All breeds of dogs are welcome.  Agility is a great way to have fun and bond with your dog and a good social outing for you too!  The instructors are Marilyn Adams and Angela Williams who are both Kennel Club Advanced Handlers and who are both represented the UK in the IFCS World Agility Championships in Belgium 2008. With Marilyn competing again in with Tia (Shetland Sheepdog) winning  Silver Medals in  2010 and 2011 and representing England again in May 2012.   All training is done with positive methods with the emphasis on making it fun for both dog and handler. OBEDIENCE TRAINING  -  Jo Miller

My teaching classes have their emphasis firmly rooted in basic pet obedience  skills and provide an excellent foundation if you wish to go on to explore any of the dog sports such as my hobby – Agility.  My goal is to help you train your dog to behave in an appropriate manner for your lifestyle and have fun on the way.  To this end I structure private lessons to work on exactly the issues a client has     with their dog and any classes I hold are kept to a strict maximum number to ensure that each dog and handler gets enjoyable quality instruction, that is flexible enough to incorporate problem issues as they happen.

I offer:

Private 1 to 1 lessons –  These can be at your home or at the Training Field.

Semi-Private Group lessons –  Where a small group of friends get together to work on a particular issue  together at a venue of your choice or the Training Field.

Outdoor Pet Obedience Classes –  Held at the Training Field, which is a fenced and gated field in the heart of Taunton, training outdoors lets you practice obedience in the “real world”.

Starting with Puppies and Beginners working through to Advanced Training.  We also welcome those dogs who have trained at indoor venues but need to transfer those skills into the “real world”

The Training Field is a Kennel Club Listed Venue so if you have an interest, we can
also work towards the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme Awards.

Group Workshops – The idea of a workshop is to go into greater detail and depth than you can in a normal lesson.  Perhaps on a single aspect of training such as the recall or retrieve to overcome or avoid problems or we might introduce a different training method such as Clicker Training, or branch off into trying a new dog sport such as flyball or agility.
These sessions maybe advertised already but if there is anything you would like to have a go at, please let me know- I always welcome any new ideas.

The emphasis of all these classes is to achieve basic
obedience, through fun and positive interaction with your dog.
